Police Tuesday afternoon blocked off portions of a parking lot of the Wal-Mart on New Circle Road in north Lexington after a possibly suicidal armed man barricaded himself inside a car in the parking lot.

The incident started at about 4:15 p.m. at the North Park Wal-Mart. Police are not allowing any traffic in the lot, and are diverting traffic near the store.They are asking motorists to avoid the area until the situation is resolved. Police say they have begun evacating a total of about 300 employees and customers out of the back of the store.

LEX 18 has a crew on the scene and will have more details as they become available.

Thank you so much for your help, I do not know why Walmart has been in the new lately. I do not know why the police will not close in that man at Walmart, you would almost think he was going to blow him self and the Walmart store. That Walmart store is the one we go to all the time.
